Date and Nut Balls

Time: 1 hour

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup pitted dates, chopped
1 cup nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or pecans), finely chopped
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Shredded coconut, cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or powdered sugar for coating (optional)

Serves: 20 People

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Prepare the Dates and Nuts:
In a food processor, pulse the chopped dates and nuts until they are finely chopped and well combined. Alternatively, you can chop them by hand if you prefer a chunkier texture.
If using cocoa powder for extra flavor, add it to the food processor and pulse until evenly distributed.
2. Add Sweetener (Optional):
If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can add honey or maple syrup to the mixture and pulse again until well combined.
3. Shape the Mixture into Balls:
Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form balls. The size of the balls is up to your preference, but aim for uniformity for consistent serving sizes.
If the mixture is too sticky to handle, you can lightly wet your hands with water or oil to prevent sticking.
4. Coat the Balls (Optional):
If desired, roll the balls in shredded coconut, cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or powdered sugar to coat them. This step adds texture and flavor to the balls.
5. Chill and Serve:
Place the date and nut balls on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Once chilled, the date and nut balls are ready to be served.
